Skincare Favorites

I take my skincare regimen very seriously. Even on the days that I am exhausted and can’t move, I will make sure to get up, wash my face, and proceed with my routine: cleanse, toner, moisturizer, and eye cream. My regimen is simple but consistent. I have noticed that a simplified routine is easier to stick with since it is faster to get through. Plus, when you use the right products you don’t need a lengthy regimen. I have always been taught that it is best to cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize (face and eyes).

When I find a good skincare line I tend to stick to it. Not only do I adore skincare that works, but the more natural the ingredients the better. Which is why I am in awe with R.D. Alchemy’s products. I can’t help but re-order their line over and over again. R.D. Alchemy is made with 98-100% natural ingredients, organic herbs, no parabens, no synthetic fragrance, no petroleum products, and no animal testing.

Using natural products is not only good for my physical well-being, but I also find that it is psychologically therapeutic. This is because I am less anxious about my health knowing that the brand does not contain harmful ingredients.

I have been especially impressed with two of their products. The Anti Aging Protecting Moisturizer with SPF 30, and the Gentle Exfoliating Toner, which I have been using for the past 3 months now.

Anti- Aging Protecting Moisturizer SPF 30

What I love most about this SPF is that it is not oily, and is a physical sunscreen (containing Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide). I mix a pump of it with my moisturizer and apply it all over my face, neck, and decolletee.

This SPF is full of antioxidant herbal extracts some of which include, Shiitake Mushroom, Hawthorn Berry, Ginkgo Leaf, Licorice Root, Ginger Root, and much more. It also helps fight aging with Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate – easily absorbed by the skin) by enhancing the skins moisture content. It also contains Vitamins C, E, and B5. Vitamin C helps fight free-radicals that damage our skin, and even out skin tone. Vitamin E is moisturizing and can help fight redness and dullness of the skin. Vitamin B5 is also helpful in providing the skin with moisture, healing, and regenerating our skin.

All in all I love this SPF for its ability to protect my skin from the sun, treat my skin with its ingredients, and its ability to be absorbed into my skin effectively without leaving me looking oily.

Gentle Exfoliating Toner

Exfoliating is a necessary step in my skin care regimen, but I have noticed that most physical exfoliants (found in scrubs – grain like texture, or brushes) cause my skin to break out, so I had to find a more gentle chemical exfoliant instead. R.D. Alchemy’s Gentle Exfoliating Toner uses AHA’s (Lactic Acid) to exfoliate dead skin cells, and promotes a more even tone and texture by renewing the skin. It is 100% natural and uses 2% Lactic Acid and Herbal Extracts including Chamomile, Calendula, Lavender, Red Rose Petals, and Green Tea (all very calming and hydrating for the skin). The mixture of all the ingredients in the toner promotes collagen production and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

At night after cleansing I saturate a cotton round with the toner and apply over my face and neck. I love that the toner does not dry out my skin, and with repeated use (I have used it for about 3 months now, but noticed results in about 2 weeks) I have noticed that my skin has evened out, redness has subsided, and my skin is more supple and more vibrant compared to before. One thing to keep in mind is that you MUST use an SPF the following day to protect it from sun damage.
