My Current Favorite Snack

My Current Favorite Snack

I am a strong believer in balance! I say this because I believe balance should exist in all aspects of our lives including our diet.

As an advocate of healthy eating, I avidly support the notion that we need to incorporate nourishing whole foods into our daily diet. However, I ALSO support listening to your body and allowing yourself to snack in moderation. When it comes to snacking, I prefer to do my research and choose the healthier options of my old favorite goodies.

I thought it would be nice to periodically share my favorite snacks on my blog to give my readers some insight and recommendations to healthier snack alternatives and why they are better for you! 🙂

My current favorite snack that I am practically obsessed with (literally can indulge in the entire bag if somebody does not stop me) are these Sea Salt Bean and Rice Chips by Beanfields. Most traditional chips are made from potatoes and corn and as a result, they contain empty calories due to their high carbohydrate content.

The healthier alternative that I am referring to is made from beans which means that it is not only a source of protein but it is also considered a vegetable. In fact, these chips contain 6g of dietary fiber and 5g of protein per serving.

Also, I love that the ingredients are clean without any preservatives or toxic additives! Their ingredients include Black Beans, Navy Beans, Brown Rice, Organic Brown Rice, Safflower or Sunflower Oil, Sea Salt. These chips are Certified Gluten Free, Non-GMO Project Verified, and Vegan.

These chips are perfect for dipping! I love to dip them in my ALL TIME favorite Majestic Sprouted Hummus (pictured above). What I love about this hummus is that the legumes are sprouted. The reason this is important is because when legumes are sprouted/soaked the natural enzyme inhibitors that are naturally found in them are removed. This means, that our body will have an easier time digesting these legumes. As a result, our body will absorb the nutrients, vitamins and minerals more efficiently.

This hummus never makes me feel bloated, tastes amazing, and contains all clean ingredients. My current favorite flavor is the sun-dried tomato!
